Accountant/Bookkeeper
Windsor, CT
Purpose
Provide hands-on administrative support for a high-tech services firm in pursuit of an aggressive multi-office growth plan. Duties include accounting, bookkeeping, customer service, human resources, and purchasing, supporting the company’s consulting, systems integration, and training business.
Requirements
- BS in Accounting with 5+ years of accounting and bookkeeping experience using GAAP accrual-based accounting methods
- Advanced knowledge of business systems software, including accounting, customer relationship management, and Microsoft Office suite. In-depth knowledge of Deltek Vision a plus
- Experience with A/R, A/P, journal entries, payroll, billing, job costing, and reporting
- Personable, energetic, dedicated, and responsible. Flexible and adaptable to dynamic business environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Helpful Skills
- Experience with DCAA compliant cost-plus accounting.
- Experience administering multiple profit centers, including complex employee incentives
- Experience negotiating customer & vendor contracts including nondisclosure agreements, terms and conditions
- Savvy learning, using, and applying new technology including computers, office equipment, software, networks, and the Internet
- Experience with purchasing, customer service, human resources, and event planning
- Creative thinking that can be applied to improving, streamlining, and automating a wide variety of office procedures
Responsibilities
- Learn, perform, streamline, and improve the company’s accounting, bookkeeping, and other administrative processes
- Perform billing, payroll, quarterly sales tax, journal entries, P&L, job costing and reporting. Administer employee incentives and customer contracts with growing size and complexity
- Assist with the migration from QuickBooks Enterprise to Deltek Vision business management software. Assist with the design and implementation of a chart of accounts. Help train and support staff members on proper use of new system
- Assist with the design and implementation of standards, policies, and procedures for appropriate division of responsibilities including checks and balances within the accounting department
- Perform additional duties spanning customer service, human resources, and purchasing
