Overview
Bloomy Controls' Curve Trace System utilizes the latest hardware and software technologies to provide a high density, high speed, fully automated IC characterization system. Standard voltage-current curves can be generated for any combination of pins to characterize a large assortment of ICs and other semiconductor devices. These curves are useful for understanding the devices' nonlinear operations as well as determining bias points, load lines, and limitations. The system can also rapidly identify a variety of faults in semiconductor devices by automatically comparing the curves with a known good device's profile.
The Curve Trace System uses a high resolution Source Measurement Unit (SMU) with a -20V to a +20V range to perform sweeps across selected IC pins and records the current draw for all points.

Benefits
SPEED
The Curve Trace System sweeps from -20V to 20V measuring 50 points in less than 50mS. Combined with fast matrix switching, over 500 curve traces can be completed every minute. The Curve Trace System can be configured to perform on-the-fly known good IC comparisons and highlight the differences, resulting in real-time IC evaluations.
RESOLUTION
The Curve Trace System has a 16-bit current and voltage measurement resolution, and multiple measurement ranges. This combination provides a current resolution of 1nA and a voltage resolution of 0.1mV.

System Configurations
The standard Curve Trace System supports 4 busses and up to 1024 pins as described in the Instrumentation section. Additional Curve Trace System configurations are available with more busses, higher power, or lower pin count. The system application can also be modified to provide additional curve trace modes, new reporting options, database integration, and more.
