 | Peter Blume, President / Engineering Director
At the beginning of his career, Peter Blume sold and supported proprietary data acquisition and control systems. He developed an enthusiasm for solving industrial problems and, in 1991, founded Bloomy Controls – a tribute to his grandfather's pronunciation of the family name.
Focusing on PC-based automation, Peter spent the next years designing automation and control systems for customers in the Northeast United States. His diverse experience includes automating the calibration of aerospace instrumentation; developing test program sets for circuit board functional testing; controlling chemical batch distillation processes; automating end-to-end production and test of communications components; automating the manufacture and test of fuel cells and power plants; and controlling chemical batch distillation processes.
Successful in building long-term relationships with satisfied customers, Peter has grown the company, opening offices in Massachusetts and New Jersey. Today he focuses on building excellence across the business and directing the engineering team, helping customers to strategically implement automation to increase productivity, improve quality, and reduce costs.
Peter is the author of The LabVIEW Style Book, the industry standard for LabVIEW development style. He has published technical articles in publications including Test & Measurement World, Evaluation Engineering, Electronic Design, and Desktop Engineering. He also is a frequent speaker at measurement and automation events.
Peter completed his B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Connecticut (Storrs, CT). His custom M.S. curriculum at the University of Connecticut included control systems courses from mechanical, chemical, and electrical engineering programs as well as a thesis in fuzzy control. Peter holds a Class 9 Professional Engineer License from the State of Connecticut, and is a National Instruments Certified LabVIEW Developer.

 | Jean Grant, Office and Finance Manager
Jean Grant joined the company in 1998, bringing 17 years of experience in bookkeeping, administrative support, customer service, and sales from companies including Bridgestone/Firestone and Dot Packaging Group Inc.
As Office Manager, Jean leads the office administration team in carrying out the company’s customer service, training center coordination, bookkeeping, and human resources efforts. She enjoys putting a smile on customers’ faces. Her attention to detail at the onset of new customer relationships helps to make the overall experience with Bloomy Controls as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Whether you need to request an estimate, place or track an order, or register for a training course or seminar, Jean and her team can help.

 | Robert Cornwell, Massachusetts Unit Leader
Robert Cornwell joined Bloomy Controls in 2006, bringing more than 15 years of experience in the test and measurement industry. Before joining the company, Robert was a Senior Program Manager at G Systems, a National Instruments Alliance partner in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. In this role, he managed numerous large-scale test and measurement projects. His experience also includes managing the Automation and Software Engineering group at OCLI, a division of JDS Uniphase which designed, implemented, and maintained fiber optic test systems.
In his role as Massachusetts Unit Leader, Robert manages an engineering team and leads the company’s business development efforts in Massachusetts and northern New England. His charter is to build long-term partnerships with our customers by ensuring the delivery of innovative automation and control solutions on time and to your specifications.
Robert holds a B.S. in Applied Physics with Semiconductor Electronics from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. He is a National Instruments Certified LabVIEW Architect.
