Senior HIL Simulation Development Engineer - CT

Windsor, CT

Purpose

Lead the design, development, test and integration of hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation systems for validation testing of complex systems for aerospace, automotive and defense.

Requirements

  • BS in engineering or science; electrical, systems or aerospace engineering preferred; MS a plus
  • 10+ years of experience developing automated test equipment in the aerospace and defense industries, including 5+ years of developing validation test plans, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation systems, and/or system integration labs (SILs)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the expression of requirements, systems and solutions
  • High energy, motivation, and enthusiasm; personable and team-oriented 

Helpful Skills

  • Electronic control unit (ECU) and line-replaceable unit (LRU) validation test experience, including electronic engine controls (EECs), full authority digital engine controls (FADECs), flight control computers, autonomous systems, battery management systems (BMS) and mission systems 
  • Experience with system integration lab (SIL) validation of interoperability of multiple components, subsystems and systems
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) principles and tools including ATML, SysML, Simulink, Rational DOORS and Cameo
  • Working knowledge of common aerospace, automotive and defense sensors, actuators, electronic signals and communication buses, such as Automotive Ethernet, CAN, Cyphal, MIL-STD-1553B, ARINC-429, RS485, MIL-STD-461, TCP, SPI, I2C, thermocouples, VDTs, and loads
  • Experience with DO-178, DO-330, SS-473, industry software and test equipment qualification standards and specifications
  • Experience with National Instruments (NI) LabVIEW, VeriStand, Test Stand, PXI, RIO and SLSC
  • Experience with C/C++/C#, VHDL, Python, Altium and SolidWorks

Responsibilities

Lead the design, development, test and integration of real-time, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation systems for validation testing of complex systems for aerospace, automotive and defense. Applications include open- and closed-loop line-replaceable unit (LRU) and electronic control unit (ECU) validation testing, as well as system and vehicle integration lab (SIL) testing. Communicate effectively with cusotmers and cross-functionally to define requirements, generate quotes and proposals, and lead design review meetings. Support the company's mission to provide automated test solutions for mission-critical and emerging applicactions which increase product safety, performance and reliability while reducing the cost of test.

Locations

Company headquarters in South Windsor, CT with occasional travel to customer deployments across the United States.
