1553 Communications for NI CompactRIO
Bloomy’s 1553B C Series module provides MIL-STD-1553B communication functionality in a rugged National Instruments (NI) CompactRIO form factor. The module includes a single dual-redundant bus interface that can operate in bus controller, remote terminal, and bus monitor modes.
By leveraging the NI CompactRIO architecture, the module is able to take advantage of the real-time controller and FPGA functionality to provide a flexible software-based configuration with multiple operating modes, and a full command interface for custom applications. LabVIEW drivers and example code are available to allow users to rapidly develop custom applications.
The Bloomy MIL-STD-1553B CompactRIO module leverages commercial off-the-shelf hardware and standard Bloomy designs to deliver high performance, full featured 1553 functionality. The Bloomy module is based on the HOLT Integrated Circuits Inc. HI6130 chip. The 3.3V CMOS HI-613x device provides a complete single- or multi-function interface between a host processor and MIL-STD-1553B bus. Each IC contains a Bus Controller (BC), a Bus Monitor Terminal (MT) and two independent Remote Terminals (RTs). Any combination of the contained 1553 functions can be enabled for concurrent operation. The enabled terminals communicate with the MIL-STD-1553B buses through a shared on-chip dual bus transceiver and external transformer. The user allocates 64K bytes of on-chip static RAM between devices to suit application requirements.
