Energy Storage Performance Testing and DOE Test Scenarios

This presentation describes a very flexible Energy Storage System (ESS) Performance Test System used by DNV GL at the BEST Test and Commercialization Center to perform functional, performance, and application testing of battery energy storage systems. Peter Blume will present some of the challenges with ESS testing, an overview of the test system architecture and the components that comprise the system, as well as recent test scenarios for frequency regulation and unintentional islanding tests performed in support of the US Department of Energy’s Energy Storage Smart Grid Demonstration Program. Paul Sweat of National Instruments will provide a company overview.
