Purpose
Lead and grow the company’s Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and Custom Turnkey (CTK) solutions engineering capabilities for developing mission-critical test applications.
Responsibilities
- BS in engineering or science, MS a plus
- 10+ years of experience in leadership/management of 12+ engineers with multidisciplinary expertise (systems, electrical, software, mechanical)
- Able to supervise engineers working on multiple projects in dynamic environments with frequent interactions across multiple functional groups (PMO, operations, quality, procurement)
- Proven excellent judgement and decision-making skills to best support company’s objectives and personnel needs
- 5+ years of experience with engineering solutions serving multiple high-tech industries, including commercial and military
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with customers, engineering, project managers, and leadership
Helpful Skills
- Military and aerospace systems development experience for Army, Navy, DoD and contractors
- MIL-STD industry standards for instrumentation & controls (I&C) hardware and software
- Equipment and software tools for engineering test solutions from providers including Emerson/NI, Pickering, ITECH, Rohde & Schwarz, Keysight, Virginia Panel Corporation, TheMathworks and others
- Custom test fixtures for validation and production PCB testing
- Design for manufacturability of electromechanical systems
- Quality engineering mindset conforming to ISO 9001:2015 or AS9100 quality management system
- Systems requirements definition, modeling and management tools
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles
Responsibilities
- Manage 12+ engineers’ performance, career tracks, training and growth. Establish development goals, support strategic planning, and maintain a high degree of morale and team cohesion
- Effectively motivate and provide guidance to ensure team’s high productivity and quality
- Support the onboarding, development, and retention engineering talent.
- Own resource planning and allocation for assigned engineering staff and coordinate with operations, engineering leaders, and project management to balance program priorities, technical needs, schedule, and available capacity
- Support business development for strategic ATE and CTK accounts, including customer discovery, solution development, technical estimating, proposal preparation, and technical presentations
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and Leadership to maintain and deliver in accordance with the automated test solutions engineering roadmap
- Work with quality for continuous improvement of engineering processes, procedures and best practices
- Contribute thought leadership via social media, conference and event participation, blog articles and industry case studies
