A Great Year for Bloomy Energy Systems

February 13, 2014

4kW Portable PV Energy Storage System2013 was a great year for Bloomy Energy Systems growth in providing test, data acquisition, and control products to the fast paced battery, electric vehicle, and grid storage industries.  With the energy storage market rapidly evolving, and few test standards existing, energy storage companies are taking various approaches to solve their testing challenges. Bloomy has optimized our platforms to provide robust solutions that can be configured for our customers’ unique needs.

A few of our delivered systems include:

  • On-board monitoring for portable PV energy storage system (4kW)
  • Custom battery management system (BMS) for grid storage (10kW)
  • Power management system for PV and inverter grid interconnect system (50kW)
  • Production test system for 150 channels of advanced Li-Ion battery packs (1kW)
  • Calibration system for high accuracy current transducers (3000A)
  • Control system for optimizing wind turbine power output (100kW)

New Product Introduction

Over the past several years, Bloomy Energy Systems has focused on testing battery management systems (BMS) and recognized the need for a highly accurate battery simulation device for safe and efficient BMS testing.   During 2013, Bloomy invested in developing and releasing the Battery Simulator 1200, a highly isolated dual quadrant simulation tool.  The Battery Simulator 1200 has quickly become a fundamental yet critical component in BMS HIL, BMS validation, and BMS end-of-line manufacturing systems; giving common test platforms to battery manufacturers throughout the BMS product lifecycle.

To support the energy storage market growth and to highlight the development of Bloomy Energy Systems products and platforms, 2013 showed an increased contribution to industry–focused tradeshows.  Bloomy has fostered growth in our partnerships with companies such as National Instruments, DNV-GL, Nuvation, and Virginia Panel Corporation with exhibitor appearances and presentations at the following tradeshows:

  • Next Generation Batteries
  • 23rd Annual ESA Conference
  • NIWeek 2013
  • Renewable Energy Storage Summit
  • The Battery Show 2013
  • Advanced Energy Technology Congress

What’s in Store for 2014?

Bloomy Energy Systems will continue to build upon this past year’s momentum throughout 2014, continuing to develop superior products and platforms that allow battery, grid storage, and automotive companies to improve quality and reduce time to market for energy storage systems. Building on the success of the Battery Simulator 1200, new platforms will be introduced to assist in testing a BMS throughout the development life cycle.
